Sport wear industry is full of challenges in year of 2013.

Sport wear is clothing especially design for sport competition at the very beginning. As the development of the sport wear industry, all clothing that is made for sport activities would be described as sport wear nowadays. In textiles industry, leisure clothing and sport wear are always the favors among consumers.

Recently, a company in the field of sport wear has announced an annual report. From the report, it showed that its net profit is 1.36 million and its revenue is 7.6 million. Comparing with the business record of 2012, the net profit was dropped by 21.5% while the revenue was with a fall of 14.4%.  

A researcher in retailing pointed that 2013 was a tough year for athletic wear in China. The large amount of stock and the abatement of order were both terrible troubles for retailers and manufacturers. The market and the purchasing behaviors were changing which have stopped the expending of scale of the entire trade. To optimize the marketing channel, to develop the revenue and to reduce the quantity of stock would be the emergencies for every single business.

The franchising has remained the athletic wear field in a fast growth for years. But with the employers’ salary and the rent were still in a trend of increasing, the growth of this industry has reached a bottleneck. The consumption of the market is downturn which is a heavy stress for businesses to finish their stock.

In the meanwhile, the rapid development of e-commerce is a serious impact for the original marketing channel. Clothing, shoes and hats have become the hottest products in e-commerce, kid apparel is also popular. The sale amount has reached one third of the total amount of online shopping. As the cost of online shop is much less than entities shop which would bring a cheaper price for consumers. It totally slashes the business of entities shop.

It is believed that, 2013 is a year full of challenges and opportunities for sport wear industry in China. The upgrade of the industry and the citizens’ purchasing behaviors mean consumers would focus more on products and brands. It is the chance. Besides, the industry stress would still be a headache for business. Consumers’ demands would be the critical factor that leads the development of this field. Customization, diversification and high quality would be the great concerns in purchasing. In addition, the e-commerce would be the main marketing channel of sport wear industry in small cities.
